Supportive Services for Veteran Families

New Vision House of Hope works with the US Department of Veteran Affairs to operate a Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program for low income veterans (both indi­viduals and their families), who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.

To qualify, vet­erans must have an Honorable or General Dis­charge, and have served at least one day in the military.

Supporting Students Through Community Empowerment

The SSVF program is proud to extend its support beyond housing stability—helping ensure that our youth head into the school year with confidence and dignity. We’ve partnered with WholesaleSchoolwear.com and WholesaleSweats.com to provide essential school apparel to children of local Veterans. Thanks to their generous donation of khaki uniform joggers and white girls polo shirts, we’re able to equip families with the clothing their children need for academic success.

SSVF GRANTEE

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program awards grants to private non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives who can provide supportive services to very low-income Veteran families living in or transitioning to permanent housing.

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program was established in 2011 to rapidly re-house homeless Veteran families and prevent homelessness for those at imminent risk due to a housing crisis.

Through a competitive application process, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) makes grants to private non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives to provide eligible Veteran families with outreach, case management, and assistance in obtaining VA and other mainstream benefits that promote housing stability and community integration. It is the first homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing program administered by VA and the first program designed to serve Veterans with families.
